Our day started with a boat trip out to Staffa with @staffatours, a very bumpy sailing out to this famous wee rock of caves and puffins. Fingals Cave is as amazing as is depicted, the rock formations and aqua marine waters below are breathtaking. I also bagged the Trigpoint on Staffa and sat and watched the puffins playing in the breeze all before lunchtime.

Our journey took us back to Iona where we hired Dutch bikes with no gears, I’m not bloody fit and it was tough to keep up with the teenager back to the pods. In the afternoon we hiked up to Dun Ì the highest point on Iona, this wee hike did not disappoint with breathtaking vistas back to Mull, the Village below and another Trigpoint to bag. After our descent from the hill we continued to the Strand of the Monks a beautiful white sandy beach where it is said Vikings murdered resident monks during their notorious raids. This led us to Traìgh an t-Suidhe another bay of wild waves and white sandy shores finishing our explore of the northern loop of the island.

The evening took us out on the Dutch bikes to the Machair and across to the Bay at the Back of the Ocean where we wandered with our thoughts and listening to the waves crashing on the pebbles greeting the shore, the sunset 🌅 was spectacular and I could have stayed there forever. What an epic day filling my soul with the secrets of this beautiful island, I feel like I’m healing and finding myself again.
