Our adventures have continued to the Mull of Kintyre, first stop Campbeltown. This town has been on my bucket list forever. We wandered around making up our own version of the heritage trail, taking in the Quays, Town House, Picture House, Linda McCartney Memorial Garden and visiting local shops to find local produce to take home.

I popped into the local ‘Keeping It Local CIC’ Campbeltown and surrounding areas to get some information on tide times for Davaar Island, this place is a great source of information if you are visiting. I had planned the Mull of Kintyre Lighthouse walk but staff in the CIC informed me the road is shut due to works on going to improve the road down to the Lighthouse. I had to quickly come up with a plan B, as recommended by the CIC staff I headed to Machrihanish to bag an easy Trigpoint and then decided to head to Saddell Bay, Castle and Abbey.

The Castle was in the Mull of Kintyre music video sung by Paul McCartney. Not much of the abbey remains and is said to be haunted! We walked out to the castle and a big dog jumped on me covering me in mud and a slug 🤦‍♀️ the owner was apologetic and it’s just as well I like dogs! We continued out to Saddell Bay where there is a monument called GRIP, created by Antony Gormley which looked rather creepy looking out to sea, the bay itself is really charming and peaceful, I could easily have stayed with the metal man listening to the sea and staring out over the waves too. Finally our weather luck ran out for the week and we got drenched in our first downpour on the way back to the car, however we looked across the fields and to our joy a rainbow had appeared.
