Daviot Woods

I’ve stuck to local walks the last few days to build up some stamina, we started off with cake at the new Northern Gateway cafe off the A9 and then wandered through Daviot Woods and took an adventurous route through felled waste land and evergreens to bag the Trigpoint, I was not impressed with myself at the effort of going off piste, we got to the trig on Dun Davie an old Iron Age fort, and there was a path on the other side!

The Trigpoint also appears to be a memorial and some lovely spring flowers were in bloom brightening up the bleak surroundings. I made the route a circular and practiced a bit of navigation much to James’ displeasure and making the walk longer and clocking up 5 miles, not the most exciting of destinations but cake helped and it was good to feel a bit better than I have done lately, fresh air is definitely the best medicine.
