We arrived on Mull last night and setup camp at Salen Bay. I had planned today to be a more relaxed day and we headed to Ulva Ferry with cake snackage from The Coffee Pot, Salen to catch the wee boat across to Ulva. We did a 3 mile loop taking in the Farm walk on Ulva and lunch at the popular Boathouse Cafe where I had the most expensive cheeseboard ever. It was worth every calorie of locally sourced cheese, I even made friends with the ferry man’s dog who was hoping for a chunk and went into a huff at my feet
This is a lovely wee island owned by its own community and I’d have loved to have done a more adventurous exploration.
We headed back to Mull and stopped at the stunning Eas Fors Waterfall for some real touristy holiday snaps and a wander round the Lip Na Cloiche Gardens and Nursery which regularly features in Country Life Magazine. We had decided on one more wee adventure of the day to walk off our island pies and headed to do the Aros Castle circuit a 13th century ruin that once guarded the shores of Mull. And finally a stop at the shipwrecks of Salen Bay before heading back to camp.
