Finally arrived on the Isle of Iona yesterday morning after a very early start and two CalMac ferries with luggage and a teen in tow! Original plan had been the northern loop but with no car ended up doing 5 miles and the day just caught up with us. We visited the Abbey and St Oran’s Chapel where we lit candles in memory of our loved ones, the nunnery and Iona Heritage Centre where we had lunch @therookery following in the steps of those who sought pilgrimage on this holy Island. There is a slow pace on the island which we gently tapped into leaving the car and digital world behind.
Our last stop of the day was outdoor pizza @ailidhlovespizza which you must book as they sell out! We enjoyed our pizzas whilst sitting in the nunnery, it’s not every day you can say that! Today we will finish the northern loop. Iona you are a very special place.
