A lovely SWWG group walk today walking from Tomatin via General Wades Road to Slochd Summit, a 7 mile route on varied terrain, a bit hillier and boggier terrain than expected being totally blinded by the low winter sun which made for hard going at times. I ended up thigh deep in a hole which had a lovely present of ankle deep bog at the bottom which I had to be pulled out of – I’ll blame the general! The road was built 1728 and completed by 1730, was 102 miles long and reached Edinburgh. We stopped for lunch at the Slochd Summit and by then it was back onto the old A9 and a quicker walk back for tea and cake at The Three Bridges Cafe in Tomatin.
