Our adventures today took us down to Nethy Bridge to do the Castle Roy circuit. The fortress is carbon dated back to the twelfth century and is one of the oldest, unchanged castles of its time in Scotland. We had hoped the fog was going to lift at lunchtime but the low winter sun and fog added to the eeriness of the castle and wander through the woods with some fantastic pockets of sunshine and mist beaming through the woodland. The walk is boggy in parts, churned up forestry tracks and a dodgy cross at your own risk bridge to contend with too! Another wee wander ticked off my ‘to do list’.
