Loch Lundie has been on my wee walks at home bucket list for years, so I decided to make the most of the sunshine and explore. I studied a few online reports and plotted my own route on OS Maps which is always exciting as you never know what you are going to get terrain wise unlike Walk Highlands you get stages and tick them off as you go along, it’s also good to practice some basic navigation. The route took us literally along the shore of Loch Lundie and I’d recommend taking the higher path in rainfall. The loch is very tranquil, tucked away and is the largest mass of water on the Black Isle. We carried on up through Talindore Woods over an vitrified fort with stunning views across to Munlochy Bay. The return took us via the John O’Groats Trail heading south which is really narrow in parts and a boggy burn which is the overflow from the loch. 5k done and another wee adventure ticked off my bucket list.
