After postponing this walk due to being unwell it finally happened. Forres to Burghead, 12.5 miles turned into 17.5 miles. The morning started with a mixup of car parks, hi jacking the local minister in Forres to take our pictures who blessed us and hoped that we saw lots of snow drops on our walk and me having a wee behind some dead trees only to get some large twigs stuck in my between my butt cheeks which I thou.ght I had removed only to do a moonie at Kinloss to remove the rest I’m sorry if I traumatised you at that point ladies. More confusion added at the actual start of the route added a bit of mileage, it was then a concrete stomp to Findhorn where we saw the yogi’s doing yoga in the marshland. Lunch was a welcome respite at Findhorn with the unseasonably warm heat today.
More steps added as we missed the colourful beach huts but I wanted my colour pop today and retraced my steps back to them. More stomping through the Sahara like sand dunes and much jelly baby scoffing ensued to keep our energy levels up as Burghead never seemed to get any closer. Finally we got there, all weary and feeling slightly dead beat after the extra miles we were rewarded with a cracking sunset.
Thanks ladies for an amazing day, think most of us agreed we won’t be doing that section of the Moray Coastal Trail again it felt bloody tough but it was easy terrain. Over 47000 steps walked today and 17.5 miles the longest distance I’ve walked in 18 months it’s amazing what you can push yourself to do! Very proud of us all today, but feeling a wee bit fragile tonight and making lots of grunting noises up and down the stairs.
