Our last morning on Iona was spent exploring the south of the island, a cycle and hike to St Colomba’s Bay. It is foretold that St Columba landed here, rare green serpentine stones are said to be the tears of St Columba himself. We met some lovely local ladies who kindly gifted a stone to me which was very kind and I was touched, now we knew what we were looking for and found a few treasured pieces on the shores of the pebbled bay. This place is so beautiful and serene, we sat there for ages just listening to the water and had our lunch, I could have stayed there all day at peace with myself.

Iona has been more than I could imagine, a place to heal and be inspired.

There is an old Gaelic proverb that says ‘The person who goes to Iona goes there three times’. I will definitely be back to this beautiful island one day. 💙
