Loch Duntelchaig

I wandered around Dunlichity Church where it is said the Jacobites stopped on their way to the Battle of Culloden and marks can be found on the headstones of where they sharpened their swords. There is also a local story that the Jacobite drums can still be heard marching to battle in these eerie glens. My main goal today was to bag the Trigpoint above Loch Duntelchaig, Creag a’Chlachain.

I had decided to stick to the forestry track and head up through the fire breaks, a wee bit boggy, there was a gap in the deer fence, a total haul up blooming heather and a line of old fence posts to get to the Trig. Wow! the panoramic views across Ben Wyvis, the Moray Firth and Strathdearn Hills in a sea of purple heather was absolutely stunning! There was a cairn a little further and it’s amazing the energy a sarnie can give you, so off I went to bag the cairn too.

Today has been a wee confidence boost, to start hosting again, my fitness was much better than expected and I had a great day out with a like minded soul. I am absolutely knackered tonight! 💜
